Aged Care Management Australia Appointed to the national ‘Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Aged Care Service Development Assistance Panel’

Director and Principal Consultant Peter Vincent has confirmed that Aged Care Management Australia (ACMA) and their partners Hodgkison Architects and Henson Lloyd Chartered Accountants have been appointed to the national ‘Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Aged Care Service Development Assistance Panel’ for the next 3 years.

Our appointment to the panel strengthens our joint commitment to working in the Indigenous health and aged care arena’s and is recognition of our collective achievements in the sector over many years”.

Peter explains that ACMA have a long association with Indigenous health having first managed the old Darwin Nursing Home in 2006, during its transition from the Salvation Army Homes to Masonic Homes and then onto the Regis group. In 2015 ACMA was seconded to manage the Halls Creek aged care service working with the local Indigenous communities to provide better access to health services in the East Kimberley’s. In 2016 ACMA were appointed as Nurse Advisors to work with the MacDonnell Regional Council to work across two of their remote communities and was then seconded to re-write all of the Indigenous aged care policies and procedures for the council.

Hodgkison Architects have also had a long history of working with Indigenous groups and health services in general in the Northern Territory through their work with the design and project management of aged care facilities, community housing and hospital services in Darwin, Alice Springs Tenant Creek and Katherine.

Henson Lloyd Chartered Accounts have worked with ACMA for a number of years providing financial advice, planning and due diligence support to our aged care clients.

Peter Vincent says that the landscape for Indigenous health is moving through significant change….

“Our understanding of Indigenous culture its relationships between culture and health care delivery systems, provides us with a balanced insight into ‘their’ health and service needs…… we cannot always measure Indigenous health outcomes with our mainstream best practice models”

With our partners, Wayne Henson (Henson Lloyd Chartered Accountants) and Dario Salvatore and Peter Goern (Hodgkison Architects) we are looking forward to the opportunity to provide innovative health solutions in the coming years. ACMA’s new executive group Nick Grakini and Lesley Jeffers, along with our clinical staff, will bring opportunities for support and growth in the development of stronger aged care governance and clinical and financial infrastructure, human resource management, and residential , and community living options.
